Year Reception
Croeso, welcome to Dosbarth Barafundle (Reception).
Below you will find key information, along with work and learning experiences that we are proud to share with you.
Our Green Planet
In Dosbarth Barafundle we are focussing on fostering curiosity about the natural world, promoting responsible behaviour, and helping our pupils to understand how their actions affect the environment and the people around them. This will include:
Caring for the Environment: Children are introduced to the idea of looking after nature, such as caring for plants and animals, and keeping the environment clean. Activities may include simple tasks like recycling, picking up litter, or planting seeds to watch things grow.
Understanding Natural Resources: Through hands-on activities like playing with water, observing the weather, or exploring materials, pupils will begin to developing an understanding of how natural resources (like water, air, and plants) are used in everyday life and why it’s important to look after them.
Waste Awareness: Pupils will be introduced to the concept of waste by sorting items (e.g., paper, plastic, food) and understanding how certain things can be reused or recycled.
Respect and Fairness: Sustainability isn’t only about the environment, but also about people. Children learn about kindness and fairness in their relationships with others. They might discuss how to share, help each other, and think about how everyone deserves a fair chance.
Active Participation: Simple activities, like turning off lights when they’re not needed or sharing toys with friends, help pupils to understand how they can play an active role in looking after the world around them.
DYDD MERCHER / Tuesday
Please remember your P.E. kit and water bottle every Tuesday for our weekly PE session with Sports Pembrokeshire.
Reading benefits a child’s education, social and cognitive development, their wellbeing, and their mental health.
In Dosbarth Barafundle, children can change their reading books every day. We encourage parents to read with their children at home daily.
