Eco Committee

Eco Schools

At Ysgol Gynradd Waldo Williams, we are strengthening our commitment to eco-awareness and sustainability. This year, we have established a new Eco Committee, the "Eco Warriors," comprising children and staff from across the school. Together, the Eco Warriors have created our school Eco Code: "Love our planet, let it glow! Waldo Williams will help it grow!"

Our school is proud to be part of the Eco-Schools programme, a global initiative engaging over 20 million children across more than 100 countries, making it the largest educational programme on the planet. Developed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in 1994 and run in Wales by Keep Wales Tidy, the programme empowers and inspires young people to make positive environmental changes in their schools and wider communities. It also helps develop important skills, including numeracy and literacy, while promoting Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship.

Over the coming months, our pupils will use their action plan to bring exciting changes to life, such as reducing energy usage and improving recycling and waste management. These initiatives reflect our dedication to making a positive environmental impact and fostering a sustainable future for our school and community.

We are also proud to have achieved our Bronze and Silver certificates this year as well as our first Green Flag.
