Enquiry
During the autumn term, our class will be exploring the enquiry question: “How have laws and power shaped Wales over time?” As part of this exciting topic, we’ll be travelling back through Welsh history to discover how Wales was governed and how ideas about law, justice and leadership have changed over time. Together, we’ll be learning about the laws of Hywel Dda, the influence of the Church in medieval society, and the development of Parliament. We’ll also explore how Edward I changed the way Wales was governed through the Statute of Rhuddlan and investigate why Owain Glyndŵr led a revolt against English rule. Throughout our enquiry, we’ll consider important themes of fairness, justice, leadership and power, exploring how decisions made by those in authority affected ordinary people and how individuals and groups challenged that power. This will help us understand how events and decisions from Wales’s past have helped shape the country and society we know today.
